(A Bit Of) Steam Goes Free-to-Play

Let's hope there's even more where that came from!

That purvayor of all things digitally gamingesque, Steam, has only gone and started doing free ~~snuff~~ stuff! Hurrah!

With 5 games now free to play on the platform one can only imagine that Valve will find some more free electronic goodness for all us loyal ~~slaves~~ citizens…

The current crop are: Spiral Knights, Forsaken Worlds, Champions Online: Free for All, Global Agenda: Free Agent, and Alliance of Valiant Arms… yeah we’re not that bothered either… but we’ll ceartainly be taking a deeper look!

I downloaded Spiral Knights, and am enjoying it so far. I’m getting a strong Phantasy Star Online vibe from it, mostly from the bright and bold colour scheme, and the online interaction with strangers! I did want to give Champions Online a go, but it is PC only (I’m a woeful Mac owner), which is a bit disappointing.

Still, this is clearly the start of something exciting.
