Retro Quick Look:- Luigi’s Mansion
Originally released in Europe in May 2002 as a Gamecube launch title, Luigi’s Mansion is the first full game to star Mario’s effeminate brother. The basic premise was simple: Upon receiving a letter informing him that he had won a Mansion, Luigi sets out to claim his new home. However things quickly take a turn for the worse when Luigi finds that the mansion is filled to the brim with all sorts of meanspirited ghosts.
Armed with the trusty Poltergust 3000, a vacuum cleaner used for capturing ghosts, it’s Luigi’s job to clear out the mansion and find out who is behind the dastardly deception.
When discussing lists of our all time favourite games of the previous generation Luigi’s Mansion often comes high up on the list. So it will come as no surprise then that, when the opportunity arose to create our first Retro Quick Look video, Luigi’s Mansion was the game we chose to cover first.
Luigi’s Mansion went on to sell approximately 2.5 million copies, and was the fifth best selling game on Nintendo’s Gamecube. A sequel, imaginatively titled Luigi’s Mansion 2, is currently scheduled to be released on Nintendo 3DS in the near future.
