So just one day after probably the loudest games conference at Gamescom, EA have allowed us some behind closed doors access to get hands on with an early build of Dead Space 2.

DLC Review: Alan Wake – The Signal

2009 was a great year for games, we had Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Left 4 Dead 2 amongst others, and this year seems to be a continuation of that. It’s incredible to think that already this year we’ve managed to get our hands on Mass Effect 2, God of War 3 and Super Mario Galaxy 2, with games from the Halo, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Fallout and Castlevania series all still to come.

With a constant flow of big titles coming out there’s fierce competition and with that comes fairly big titles losing out on sales and somewhat slipping under the radar. No game this year sums this up more than Alan Wake.

Review: Transformers: War for Cybertron

The Transformers universe has been somewhat of a reopened gold mine as of late. A brand new Transformers MMO has been announced for Asia, North Africa, the Middle East and Russia, there are brand new toys in the shops and lest we forget the brand new, Michael Bay Transformers movies that have divided opinion (I personally enjoyed them), and all the merchandising that comes with them. But as with anything that is part of so many people’s childhoods, when franchises are revisited in such a way, there’s extreme pressure on “getting it right” and being true to the source material. So imagine my own scepticism then when it was announced that a brand new Transformers game entitled Transformers: War For Cybertron was on it’s way, especially after the most recent Transformers games I had played were the terrible, aforementioned movie tie-ins.

But Transformers: War For Cybertron is different, it stands alone.

Review: Castlevania – Harmony of Despair

Are you afraid of vampires, ghosts, demons and succubi? YOU ARE!? Well forget about going to the wonderful land of Castlevania for your holidays this year because you’re a pansy. But if you are like me and actually prefer to go on your holidays to places where the likelihood of certain death by werewolves is above 90% then there is no better place this winter. 1200 Microsoft points gets you flights and accommodation, but if you do fancy spending Christmas in Dracula’s castle, a word of warning. when packing your bags make sure you include a whip, for killing various creatures and monsters, meat which you can keep hidden in the walls and lots of sources of caffeine, because unfortunately you will not be sleeping on this little get-a-way.

5. XIII

First person shooters has been somewhat of a hit or miss genre on Nintendo consoles. Whilst we marvel at the greatness of GoldenEye or Turok, we also have to live with the likes of The Conduit, they are either absolutely spot on, or abysmally bad. These days Nintendo strive to develop some of the most accessible, family friendly games on the market, I’m of the opinion that they should also pump a bit of that cash they’ve got lying around into a sequel for the little gaming gem I’m going to talk to you about today, XIII (or 13 if you don’t know your Roman numerals).
