Anyone that played the original Bioshock through to completition would probably agree with the following statement: the Little Sister protection mission sucked. The gunplay was imprecise, and the slow lumbering movement made the whole thing drag. Thank god it only lasted a few minutes. With that in mind, when it was revealed that Bioshock 2 would [...]

2009 was a great year for games, we had Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Left 4 Dead 2 amongst others, and this year seems to be a continuation of that. It’s incredible to think that already this year we’ve managed to get our hands on Mass Effect 2, God of War 3 and Super Mario Galaxy 2, with games from the Halo, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Fallout and Castlevania series all still to come.
With a constant flow of big titles coming out there’s fierce competition and with that comes fairly big titles losing out on sales and somewhat slipping under the radar. No game this year sums this up more than Alan Wake.

Are you afraid of vampires, ghosts, demons and succubi? YOU ARE!? Well forget about going to the wonderful land of Castlevania for your holidays this year because you’re a pansy. But if you are like me and actually prefer to go on your holidays to places where the likelihood of certain death by werewolves is above 90% then there is no better place this winter. 1200 Microsoft points gets you flights and accommodation, but if you do fancy spending Christmas in Dracula’s castle, a word of warning. when packing your bags make sure you include a whip, for killing various creatures and monsters, meat which you can keep hidden in the walls and lots of sources of caffeine, because unfortunately you will not be sleeping on this little get-a-way.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: this generation of consoles has seen the way publishers and developers make money change irreversibly. As every console is designed to be connected to the internet 24/7, game makers can offer us extra content including new missions, characters, costumes, and even new game modes… for a price.
The rise of DLC (Downloadable Content) has led to some truly wonderful gaming experiences, but at the same time some truly terrible gaming sins have been all too regularly committed. Today The Newb Review makes note of the DLC Dos and Don’ts: dishing out praise to those that produce particularly good DLC, and condemning those that have earned our scorn through their shameful practices.

It’s a phenomenon that has existed for years, but is becoming more and more common as the games market expands. I am of course talking about expensive Collector’s Edition copies of the latest new release. It seems every developer these days is releasing a high priced “limited edition” complete with in-game bonus items, books, soundtracks, [...]

Game: Heavy Rain Chronicles: The Taxidermist Format: Playstation 3 Developer: Quantic Dream Publisher: Sony No one can deny that Heavy Rain is a divisive game. Some would even go so far as the argue that it isn’t even a real game thanks to its focus on storytelling over traditional gameplay. I personally found it to [...]
