Early Wednesday morning (3 AM) my friends and I (all eight of us) headed out for Indianapolis, only to arrive 12 hours later. We nabbed badges for those that forgot to preorder and settled into our hotel for a night of pre-gaming er… gaming.

Mega-Weekend World Tour: New Jersey!
One of the last true “bastions” (pun intended) of live Vs. play has to be All in One Collectibles located at 540 Route 10 West, Randolph, NJ 07869. We all owe a special thanks to Tom for keeping the scene there VERY alive.
Tom hosted one of this year’s Mega-Weekends there in July and, while there was not a lot of coverage, there are some pics to wet your whistle. And we have to make sure that the champs get their time in the spotlight so that they have something worth defending NEXT year!
Gen Con 2011 Deck Profile: Captain Curr-unch
As you scroll through the decklists from the Gen Con 2011 Mega-Weekend you’ll notice a lot of old favorites; that is until you see this decklist by Eric Madden: READ MORE »
Gen Con 2011: Diary of a Nerdy Kid
I’m going to start off they same way I did last year by saying, “I love my wife!” Once again Gen Con fell on our anniversary - and she still let me go! Also, like last year, I’m going to break down my Gen Con trip day-by-day! READ MORE »
Minnesota Mega-Weekend Coverage
The Minneapolis crew DOMINATED the event, with each of them going 3-1. In fact, the three Minneapolis players combined had more wins than all five St. Cloud players combined (well, the four St. Cloud players and me). Yikes! After four rounds, the top two seeds (Martie and Paul) played it out for the championship, with the win – and the sweet playmat – going to Paul Madden.
DC Kingdom Come Previews
I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news. Conventional wisdom would tell me to get the bad news out of the way first so that the good news can be used to pick us up after the bad news; however, that order would not make sense for the reader, so I’ll stick with how things worked chronologically. Besides, in this instance, the good news FAR outweighs the bad news! READ MORE »
100 Ideas: Marvel Round 2 (Part 2 of 4)
Welcome back riders! Let me apologize for the snail’s pace that these articles now appear, but there are good reasons. First, it’s mostly my playgroup that now does these (it appears people still read them, but are not as eager to volunteer for the matchups). Also, this semester I’m finishing my Masters Program in education. So I can rarely squeeze in games! But that doesn’t mean my enthusiasm is dwindling in the least. This tournament will go on, even if it takes the rest of my life. But, for my sanity, please volunteer for matchups so that it does not take that long! We’ve got some tasty treats ahead. Read on!
DC Lantern’s Light Previews: Lantern Corps Legends!
I don’t know how word got about my crazy man-crush on the Green Lanterns, but at this point it’s impossible to put the cork back in the bottle. In fact, so much is known about this dirty little secret of mine, that the creators of the DC Lantern’s Light set knew to specifically give me Kyle Rayner previews instead of Hal Jordan ones (not that ‘Ol Fearless himself doesn’t have his own merits)!
Why does Kyle rock so much? He was the easiest comic book character for a reader to relate to. Unemployed (starving artist=unemployed); immature; slacker; etc. Everything a comic book reader can relate to. Then he stumbles out of a rave into an alley and encounters Ganthet, who basically decides he’s tired of looking for a suitable ring candidate, and forks over the ring to Kyle with the words, “You will have to do.” READ MORE »
Gen Con 2010: Diary of a Nerdy Kid
First off, let me start by saying, “I love my wife.” For those that didn’t hear about it ahead of time, my one-year anniversary to my wife was 8/7/10. The Vs. World’s tournament at Gen Con was held 8/7/10. That’s right, my wife was cool enough to let me host a Vs. tournament halfway across the country on our one-year anniversary. For that, she deserves a shout-out; and she definately deserved the 4 days of my undivided attention following Gen Con (which is why you’re hearing this report a week later). READ MORE »
100 Ideas: Marvel Round 2 (Part 1 of 4)
Alright, enough waiting for people to make their picks, let’s air this thing out! Marvel Round 2 has begun, and some of the matches below WILL shake the foundations of general Vs. assumptions! Here’s the link to the new Marvel Bracket updated after round 1 results have been inputed. If you haven’t made picks for this round yet, go here, but you obviously can’t get points on the four matches below, but I’ll honor your other twelve picks!
Finally, let me apologize for slowing down. I’m still plucking away, but I put in 80 hours per week doing my summer job. That leaves only an hour or less a day at my computer to type and edit posts. That being said, I am committed to finishing, so don’t worry! READ MORE »
