Overload, Dr. Light, Fiddler, Valeria Von Doom and Mimic. What do they all have in common? They have all been banned. That’s right folks, Mimic has been banned! This abusive five-in-one utilizer was brought to the attention of The Council quite a while ago, and after much deliberation and investigation he has finally been banned. Which one? The foul-mouthed, game-stealing, MWS annoyance. The guy would watch tournament threads on our forums and wait for people to say that they would host a match; then he would hop onto MWS under the name of that person, and attempt to play the match. He would often use vulgar language, and get very upset when he was losing (which is how we figured out he was 2-3 years old - give or take). He became such a pain, that people were using code words to set up matches. Needless to say it provided a negative play environment for new and old players alike, so he had to be stopped. Luckily, because one of our own is now hosting the MWS server, it became possible to track IP addresses that accessed the server. Because of this, and other detective work (that will remain secret in case he rears his head again), we can now keep him from the MWS server.
Some of you may have also noticed the new Shoutbox. This was also added in response to Mimic’s abuses. With the old Shoutbox, guests of the site could see what was being said. Heck, people could even have adopted other persona’s when using the old Shoutbox, similar to how Mimic was adopting persona’s on MWS. With the new Shoutbox, you must be a member to read it, or type in it. It automatically plugs in your member name, so no one can ‘Mimic’ others. For this reason, we highly encourage people to arrange their matches for MWS through the new Shoutbox. Mimic cannot see what’s being said there unless he creates an account with us.
Speaking of arranging Magic Workstation Matches; the online tournament scene has been on fire lately. In the last couple weeks we’ve seen action from all kinds of different formats: MUN, MTU, and DCF Sealed for those into limited; MWZ Silver Age for those into the fan-sets; Origins Block for those into alternate formats; and others too! Heck, there are even some physical tournaments in the works: French Nationals; European Vs. Weekend; Vs. NorCal Summer Series; and Gen Con! To find out what’s currently going on, please go to the Organized Play section of our forums.
Not sure how to play online? Go to the MWS section of our forumsand follow the step-by-step guide to get it up and running. Don’t be shy! We all know what it’s like to be new to something, and we’re all willing to walk new members through the process of using Magic Workstation. A good place to start is by PM’ing someone in the directory found in the ‘About this Site’ tab at the top of this page.
Finally, the Member Locator (also found on a tab at the top of this page) is finally working again. Those with good memories might remember that we lost the Locator when we changed hosts for Vssystem.org from Thekamiza.wordpress.com to Newbreview.com. A special thanks to Steve for researching whatever the problem was, and getting it fixed!

GREAT TO HEAR GUYS! ITS ABOUT TIME! BUT I WILL ALWAYS WONDER.. WHO WAS THE MIMIC ANYWAY? THAT QUESTION MAY GO ON FOREVER UNKNOWN… LIKE THE INFAMOUS QUESTION.. HOW MANY LICKS DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO THE CENTER OF A TOOTSI ROLL POP??.. THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW. LOL
