newbreview.com’s Game of the Year 2011: The Winner

Yesterday we revealed newbreview.com’s nominees for Game of the Year 2011, Batman Arkham City, Portal 2, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. We have to admit that all three games are worthy contenders to be Game of the Year, but, much like The Highlander, there can only be one.

After much debate, and many shouting matches, the staff at newb HQ have agreed on their pick for newbreview.com’s Game of the Year 2011.

Drum Roll Please.

And the Winner is…

Skyrim!

"First of all I'd like to thank my mom and dad for their love and support..."

Yes, Bethesda’s latest entry in the Elder Scrolls series is officially our favourite game of the year, joining Batman Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect 2 on our wall of fame. It was the sheer scale of the game that sealed the deal for us. As well as featuring a lengthy and epic campaign the game’s greatest attribute is the way that it quite literally swallows up your life. You could spend dozens of hours just wandering through caverns, hunting animals, collecting flowers, or making a home with a special man/woman/cat-person, and if RPGs are your sort of thing you’ll love every second.

So congratulations to everybody at Bethesda! Your trophy is in the mail ;)
