News: Darksiders’ War on Tearing has Ended

Darksiders Art workDarksiders is the awesome Zelda-esque game from THQ that released on January 5th to universally great reviews. However, one of the few knocks to the game was that the XBOX 360 version had a lot of obvious, and almost impossible to ignore, screen tearing*.

I say ‘was’ and ‘had’ with purpose, because today (27th Jan 2010) a patch has been released that virtually eliminates the problem! As a much needed update, this is great news for us XBox players; making the game even more fun than it already was and a lot easier on the eye.

Thanks THQ! A full review for Darksiders is coming up soon. So as always, keep your internet browser pointed towards The Newb Review.

*Screen tearing is when you see horizontal lines moving up/down the screen. Another game with noticeable screen tearing is Assassin’s Creed.

I’ve gotta say that I didn’t experience too much screen tearing when
I played through it, but if this patch removes what little I saw then that’s just great!

You didn’t notice it?! What TV are you playing it on? My TV is big so maybe I notice it more. Plus I take picture quality very seriously. Everywhere I go I feel the need to fix people’s TV pictures, when they aren’t set right.

Before the fix I did notice that the tearing was lessened slightly by installing. But the fix completely fixed it for me. Now I can enjoy it even more! Woo

I’ve got a 32 inch LG Lcd tv, and while there were some moments with noticable screen tearing, it didn’t seem as bad as people made out. It certainly wasn’t as bad as resident evil 5!

Mines a bit bigger so that will probably factor in. The tearing got the worst on parts of the game with lots of lines in the graphics, such as corridors with brickwork or walls detailed patterns (like the big golem doors).

I tend to notice stuff like that a lot in any case. Like I said, I’m sensitive when it comes to picture quality.

    Awesome game anyway.
